1. Topaz was named Utah’s state gem in 1969.

According to the Bureau of Land Management, Topaz Mountain in Juab County is one of the best places in the world to find the gemstone.

2. Topaz is found in 9+ colors.

Topaz is found in several colors including blue, white, purple, yellow, green, and pink. Imperial topaz has a reddish-orange or pinkish-orange hue.

3. Topaz is a traditional anniversary gift.

Topaz is a traditional gift for the 4th and 19th wedding anniversaries. Imperial topaz is a traditional anniversary gift for the 23rd wedding anniversary.

4. Topaz got its official name in 1737.

In 1737, “topaz” became the name for the gemstone. Before that year, any stone with a yellow hue was also called topaz.
