TikTok sensation London Lazerson has created over 500 videos with over 3 million followers that will keep you laughing and get you hooked. But there is more to his story than just hilarious videos. From as early as he can remember, London wanted to start his own business, to be an entrepreneur. And even as a young boy, he had a need to create and perform. Raised in South Jordan and the oldest of five siblings, London discovered that performing pranks and making people laugh was something he excelled at. So, instead of going to college, he created his own YouTube channel.
In 2014, at the age of 21, London created a bluetooth speaker, Sticky Sounds, that is rugged and waterproof and will stick just about anywhere. You can use it in the shower, at the pool or on the slopes and it was extremely popular when it launched but was liquidated in 2015. In the same year, London married Paloma Martinez and began creating content for a production company. In 2016, he began creating comedic videos to post on Facebook. He posted a video of “Blowing the World’s Biggest Bubble.” The catch was that he never actually blew a bubble. It was of him chewing and chewing but never blowing. This made a lot of people mad and sent it viral. With that taste of social-media stardom, London began continuously posting comedy on Facebook and looking for ways to monetize what once he considered a hobby.
He began doing videography for clients on the side and looking for ways to grow his social media following. London challenged himself to post 100 comedy videos for 100 days on his Instagram account and gained 800 followers. He felt like all the work was not worth the payoff, so he decided to look for other platforms that would give him the visibility he was seeking.
In October 2018, a friend suggested that London try TikTok. London declined, saying that TikTok is stupid. But, after some coaxing from his friend who challenged him to post nine videos, he decided to go for it. When one video hit 1.2 million views, he realized, “This is the real deal.”
London decided to post 3 videos a day for one month, and at the end of the 30 days, he had 100,000 followers. During this time, he was working for an ad agency in Utah as his day job. He was the seventh person to join the company and ended up managing over 100 people. Now, he had a decision to make about where he was going to put his focus. With the success of his TikTok account, he left that position and developed Viral Blueprint, “six courses that thoroughly uncover the secret hacks in TikTok’s algorithms that I used to go from 100 to 1 million followers in just a few months.” Viral Blueprint launched on November 2, 2020.
Although he had achieved great success with his TikTok account, London has always been a believer in diversifying and having several streams of income. “Don’t let anybody control your income,” he says.
Speaking of diversifying, London’s latest venture is his clothing line, Laz Clothing, which launched on his birthday, December 2, 2020, and is slated to be highly successful.
One of the things that makes the TikTok app so popular is that “any average person can find success and find an audience,” says London. “On TikTok, you can be anything and anybody and become that person.” He has been posting at least one video a day on TikTok for seven months, and he has three basic categories: his Tesla videos, Macaulay Culkin videos (he looks a lot like him), and his comedies. His Tesla videos have the highest engagement, followed by the Culkin videos and lastly his comedies. His comedies are what he would like to focus on. However, London admits, “You can become famous by destroying your Tesla.”
In July, TikTok created a creator fund, which London got accepted into, and he now gets paid per 1,000 views. His videos get between 20 and 50 million views per month. However, according to London, you can make the most money by creating brand deals with companies, and he is constantly reaching out to them looking for his next deal. He has also had opportunities to help produce commercials featuring different celebrities and influencers.
London is a believer in perfect timing and taking advantage of the opportunities that present themselves while always keeping your options open. For now, it seems that the sky’s the limit, and we are looking forward to seeing what comes next.
